Bodum 1308-16 Columbia 8-Cup Stainless-Steel Thermal Press Pot, Reviews

/

The Bodum stainless steel tea and coffee press pot is fantastic. I recommend it without reservation or hesitation. Get one for yourself and additional ones for birthday and Christmas gifts.

Experts and snobs will tell you that using a French Press is the best way to make coffee and tea because it does not filter out flavor you want and need from the grounds and leaves. And this press pot is much more effective and durable than the traditional glass models.

The double wall steel keeps the coffee hot during steeping. And the filter is so well made and fine that it allows you to use regular coffee grounds (as opposed to the coarse grounds recommended when using most French Presses) without a speck of sediment getting into your cup after pouring, which has two advantages: First, it makes it easier for those of us who do not have an expensive burr coffee bean grinder to make coffee (so I can buy ground coffee and then store it in a container I vacuum seal after every use - since air and moisture are the enemies of coffee beans and grounds); and, second, it allows you to use a finer ground coffee, which enhances the flavor of the beverage.

This press pot is also a cinch to clean and appears very durable. Finally, the pot is good looking itself.

I am getting great results using two level scoops (using the plastic scoop included) of ground coffee per 12 ounces of water and then steeping for 4 minutes using water that has just come to a boil.

As an additional tip, especially for those who like their coffee and tea piping hot and want to keep it that way as long as possible, purchase some Bodum double wall glass cups or mugs. The double wall construction and German borosillicate glass (medical grade glass that is vastly superior to traditional soda-lime glass) keep beverages extra hot and extra cold for the longest possible time and are well worth the money you pay for them.

Review :

"I bought this several weeks ago and I am using it everyday. It is much better than a drip coffee maker because of the direct contact of the coffee grounds. You can use less coffee than the amount needed for a drip coffee maker. For the outside appearance, it is beautiful and sturdy. For the inside design, the mesh never lets grounds skip into your coffee. A special feature of vacuum stainless steel is the one I like best. It is a 8-cup volumn French Press and can keep the rest of coffee hot in the bottle (I didn't calculate the exact time period). I don't like extremely hot coffee, so it is hot enough for me after around an hour. A very good product that I will recommend to any coffee lovers."
